When it comes to dating, the intentions of your potential partner are often shrouded in secrecy. And while the cornerstone of any stable relationship is clear and honest communication, some choose to postpone talking about future for as long as possible. Have you ever wondered if your date wants a relationship or just sex? Scientists say it’s easy: what a man wants is in his eyes.
According to researchers at the University of Chicago, you can reveal whether he wants a relationship or sex just by trackins his eye movements. Scientists claim that in just half a second, human brain makes an immediate judgment about others based solely on a person’s appearance. If your date’s intentions are to have sex, his eyes will be more likely to linger around your body. However, if he is interested in a romantic relationship and love, he will most likely focus on your face.
Some will probably wonder, “Aren’t these things interconnected? How can scientists determine this if, for example, man has not yet decided what he wants? ” That is a good question.
That study (and others) found that while love and sexual desire are of course intertwined, they use “different networks of brain regions” to process the two feelings.
The researchers conducted an experiment in which subjects were asked to view photos of attractive people they had never met in their lives. They were then asked to decide as soon as possible whether the particular photo was of romantic or sexual interest. They found no difference in how long it took to identify possible love and lust: both seemed to be immediate reactions. But it was found that the choice was directly related to where the participants looked – at the face of the person or the rest of the body.
So if you’re trying to understand your dates intentions, try to look him in the eyes. Try to understand how (and where) he looks to see if his goal is lust or love.
