If you feel that your libido is low, nutritionists recommend that you take a look at your diet – maybe there is something missing in order to light a spark in the bedroom.
In order to encourage people to eat healthier, remember the old saying – “you are what you eat”.
And if your sex life is no longer satisfying, it’s time to adjust your diet. The foods we consume can prove to be harmful or beneficial to our sex life.
It’s safe to say that many of us understand that eating a lot of sweets and fatty foods won’t keep us energetic. If your hand often reaches for chocolate, if you like to order a greasy pizza with a big pile of cheese, sooner or later physical changes will hit you. By the way, it also affects the psyche.
Fast food lovers should know that this hobby of theirs can reduce libido.
But don’t worry, holistic health and nutrition expert Kate Booker reveals to the Daily Star what foods you should eat to improve your sex life.
“The nutritional value of fast food is really low,” explains Booker. “When we eat quality food with many valuable substances, the body is supplied with vitamins and minerals necessary for good health. Libido is a sign of good health; if your libido is low, you may not be getting enough nutrients, you are under a lot of stress, or your nervous system needs support.”
How to improve your sex life?
If you believe that the loss of libido is related to improper nutrition, the expert recommends taking the necessary substances, such as zinc.
“Zinc-rich foods, such as seafood and red meat, increase testosterone,” explains Booker. “These products are rich in minerals that are important for the production of sex hormones and the functioning of the thyroid gland. Seafood contains iodine, zinc and selenium – these minerals are necessary for the thyroid gland, if the thyroid gland is underactive, there is a lack of energy, and the libido decreases.”
According to K. Booker, in order to have a better sex life, it is preferable to eat less processed food, use valuable proteins in the diet – of plant and animal origin, as well as vegetables and fruits.
According to the expert, it is not enough just to use food supplements, first of all you need to balance your diet.
Although you should start with diet, the specialist stressed that people are different, so you should also include other ways to improve your sex life, for example, remembering breathing techniques when you feel increased stress.
“You should first check if the right diet is being used; the diet should consist of high-quality proteins of animal and vegetable origin, algae, vegetables, fruits and spices. Cut down on processed foods, eat whole, clean foods – no amount of supplements will help if you’re eating poorly. It depends on each person what specifically helps them maintain their libido in the bedroom. If a person is stressed, they should use conscious breathing techniques; magnesium is also calming and can increase libido,” says Booker.
Therefore, it remains to add – think before you put something in the shopping cart.
