Caesars is bringing back the tradition of the Las Vegas Strip

The entertainment on the Las Vegas Strip has evolved over the years. Casino theaters once featured magicians, variety shows, revues, plays and old-school acts like Frank Sinatra.

Over the years, the shows where jugglers and plate cutters performed, as well as magicians remained, but the main characters who had already served their time began to perform in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS BOULEVARDS ARE LOSING AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF HISTORY

You might never pay big bucks to see Donny and Marie Osmond if they came to your town, but something about their name recognition vibe made them successful for decades. Donnie Osmond is still a main character at Caesars Entertainment’s ( CZR ) — but in many ways, he’s one of the few people who’s been forgotten.

Many shows have closed and the showgirls – once the mainstay of Streep – have all but disappeared. The question is who will pay to see something as dated as showgirls when Adele, Garth Brooks, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and countless other big name artists perform.

Magicians and Michael Jackson impersonators can still be seen performing during the day, while the most famous DJs and electronic dance music artists perform in the night clubs.

SHOWGIRLS RETURN TO THE LAS VEGAS STRIP

Most people would assume that casinos on the Las Vegas Strip still host shows featuring showgirls. That’s because the Strip is full of women dressed as showgirls and posing for photos.

Now, however, Dita Von Teese, known as the “International Queen of Burlesque,” will be bringing showgirls back (fashionably) to the Las Vegas strip. Her show, Dita in Las Vegas: A Jubilant Revue, runs from Oct. 5 at the newly renamed Caesars Club at the Horseshoe.

Von Teese (born Heather Renee Sweet) considers herself a lifelong fan of the iconic Jubilee show, the last showgirl act of its kind that ran at Bally’s (formerly the Horseshoe) from 1981 to 2016.

Dita Las Vegas will combine the artist’s signature burlesque performances with the famous Jubilee aesthetic, incorporating some of the show’s original costumes and sets.

IN HONOR OF BURLESQUE

Von Teese, who essentially revived burlesque as an art form, at least on the biggest stages, says showgirls have been unfairly left out of history. It’s very powerful to see this art form develop and flourish, and that includes beauty and gender standards within it.

The show takes place on select Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, including New Year’s weekend performances at 21.00

The essence of burlesque is the art of the tease, so pick your jaw up off the floor and check out our list of the best burlesque spots in Sin City.
