Or do you get to think about whether you have enough sex? It turns out that the happiest couples have sex only once a week (at least, researchers say). More sex will not make us happier, and (surprisingly) less than once a week will not be enough to feel satisfied.
We are constantly reminded that in order to be happy, a person must have regular sex. And while Netflix and Pizza Evening may sound like a perfect time together, everyone will agree, if we say that having sex is definitely a better alternative to improving a relationship.
However, it turns out that this only applies to a certain point: couples who have sex more than once a week do not see a noticeable increase in happiness, the study shows.
Of course, let’s not jump into the second ditch either – couples who have sex less than once a week may feel frustrated, scientists at the University of Toronto-Mississauga, Canada, are convinced.
“We found that people feel most satisfied when they have sex on average once a week,” explains lead researcher Dr. Eimija Moisa.
“Sex more than once a week is not about greater well-being.”
The researchers found that it had no direct bearing on people’s age, gender, or how long the couple was together. Researchers tend to put all the blame on the media, which promotes the idea that more sex means a happier relationship.
“Most people try to be happier, and sex is one aspect of life that is thought to be associated with greater happiness,” says Moisa.
Analyzing thousands of data collected over decades, the researchers also found that couples who don’t have much sex feel significantly more frustrated than their “always-willing” counterparts.
So let’s remember – a person’s full happiness requires only sex once a week.
